About us

Who are we?

The Centre for Polish Studies is a school of Polish language organising courses in Warsaw, Sopot and Cracow. We are a private institution, established in the year of 2000 by experienced tutors of Polish as a foreign language. We only employ qualified teachers who hold certification to teach Polish as a foreign language.

What do we do?

A different language is a different vision of life.

Federico Fellini
Film director (1920 - 1993)

Our mission is to help foreigners get to know not only Polish, but also Poland: we believe that language, although it is key to understanding a country and its people, is not enough – therefore, we also teach our students culture, economy and history of Poland.

Our teaching methods take all facets of language learning into consideration: reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. The teaching materials that we use include excerpts from the most recent publications as well as our own handouts. We use modern teaching methods, such as drama and language games, conversation, audio and video materials. We use the most contemporary textbooks and materials, according to the level and needs of the students. We place emphasis on all aspects of the language: speaking and comprehension, reading and writing,

We are certain that you will make great strides in Polish at our school, and we are eager to help you learn to do business in Poland, if so desired. In the past, our clientele has included consultants and advisors of companies and institutions such as: Bank Pekao SA, Ove Arup&Partners International Ltd, American School of Warsaw, The European Parliament, and various foreign embassies.

Why choose us?

Because we:

  • Fun – you’ve heard that Polish is a hard-to-learn language, with complicated grammar and difficult pronunciation? Well, it is. On the bright side, if you choose to study Polish with us, we promise to make it also interesting, exciting and fun!
  • Adjusted to your needs – we provide courses on every level of advancement: fromcomplete beginner’s to proficiency; there are courses organised in the morning, evening and on weekends; we run group and individual courses in our school in the city centre or at your place – whatever your needs are, we can meet them!
  • More than just classroom studying – language classes are one thing, but everyday practice is another. To make sure our students get to know Poland really well, we organise nights out and excursions for them and, in the case of an intensive 2,3,4-week course -  a rich afternoon and weekend cultural programme!

GDAŃSK is rich in history of over 1000 years with monumental Gothic cathedrals. It holds a special place in Poland's recent history as the cradle of Solidarity.
